2013 Honda Civic Review

2013 Honda Civic Review - The 2013 Honda Civic ranks 11 out of 41 Affordable Small Cars. This ranking is based on our analysis of published reviews and test drives of the Honda Civic, as well as reliability and safety data. According to auto reviewers, the 2013 Honda Civic’s improved interior materials and additional standard features make it class-competitive. The Honda Civic comes in base, Si, HF and Hybrid models. The Honda Civic Hybrid is reviewed separately. Each model has a different powertrain setup, but they all have a four-cylinder gasoline engine. The base Civic’s engine makes 140 horsepower, and while test drivers think it provides the Civic with good freeway acceleration, they think some competitors feel more powerful.  Honda says the base Civic averages 28/39 mpg city/highway.  The base Civic has five-speed manual and automatic transmissions.

Critics do not complain about either one, but some wish that they had six gears like many rivals. For the 2013 model year, Honda tightened the Civic’s suspension, and auto writers say that the ride and steering are nicely balanced. The Honda Civic doesn't lead the class with stellar performance, but it does trump a lot of the competition with a combination that few small cars can match: above-average safety and reliability scores.

This year, the 2013 Honda Civic Review has more standard features, which brings it in line with offerings from its competitors. The base sedan comes with air conditioning, a USB port, Bluetooth and a rearview camera. A navigation system and a stereo upgrade are optional. Overall, test drivers think the climate and audio controls are easy to use, though one says the navigation system is a little complicated. Auto writers are pleased with the Civic’s cabin space and comfortable seats. They report that the front seats offer good space for adults, though tall adults will need more headroom. They say the rear seats will fit most adults. The Civic trails some of its classmates in terms of cargo space, though.
